چکیده

are described; two had ischaemic heart disease, and one had cardiomyopathy. In thefirst case the slow ventricular response to atrialfibrillation was a result of incomplete atrioventricular nodal block, and in the other two His bundle electrograms demonstrated that the slow ventricular response was due to bilateral bundle-branch block. The association of atrial fibrillation and conduction delays in the atrioventricular node and bundlebranches is discussed. The value of His bundle recordings in the investigation of these cases is shown and the importance of cardiac pacing in treatment is stressed.

Switch to DDD mode in SafeR algorithm could be delayed in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and simultaneous occurrence of complete atrioventricular block.

Discussion SafeR pacing mode provides AAI pacing while continuously monitoring AV conduction. The device switches to DDD mode upon the occurrence of pause (2 or 3 s, in this case programmed in 2 s), or first-, secondor third-degree AV block. In our patient, none of these conditions was present during atrial pacing thus keeping in AAI. In this familyof pacemakers, the mode switch criterion due t...

Electrically Induced Atrial Tachyeardia with Block A Therapeutic Application of Permanent Radiofrequency Atrial Pacing

was initially decided to induce atrial fibrillation as necessary with the use of a permanent radiofrequency-controlled atrial pacemaker. Several days after implantation of the pacemaker, however, rapid atrial pacing produced atrial tachycardia with atrioventricular block rather than atrial fibrillation. Despite this apparent failure, the ventricular rate has been adequately controlled by rapid ...

A review on atrioventricular junction ablation and pacing for heart rate control of atrial fibrillation

Atrioventricular junction ablation with permanent pacemaker implantation is a highly effective treatment approach in patients with atrial fibrillation and high ventricular rates resistant to other treatment modalities, especially in the elderly or those with severe comorbidities. Compared with pharmacological therapy alone, the so-called "ablate and pace" approach offers the potential for more ...

Short-term effects of right-left heart sequential cardiac resynchronization in patients with heart failure, chronic atrial fibrillation, and atrioventricular nodal block.

BACKGROUND Single-site ventricular pacing in patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and severe atrioventricular (AV) nodal block risks the generation of discoordinate contraction. Whether altering the site of stimulation can offset this detrimental effect and what role sequential right ventricular-left ventricular (RV-LV) stimulation might play in such patients remain unknown. METH...

Relation between atrioventricular pathways and ventricular response during atrial fibrillation and flutter.

We have analysed the ventricular response as seen on the surface electrocardiogram in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and flutter in relation to the electrophysiological properties of the corresponding atrioventricular pathways. In 15 patients who had atrial fibrillation with conduction solely through the atrioventricular node, there was a significant correlation between th shortes...
